Spring is here (even though it seems that Mother Nature has not quite caught up to that fact!) I see the flowers starting to bloom, the birds are singing, the world is waking up. Easter is coming early in the month and with it comes a time of rebirth, a time of renewed hope and joy, and a time for celebration.
Have you ever turned on the TV and started watching a movie in the middle and you aren’t really sure what is going on? It seems interesting, but you know that you must have missed something important earlier in the story. That is kind of what it is like to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on Easter morning without first walking through the remembrances of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. The celebration of Easter morning is much more meaningful, sweeter, and joyful if you first share in the last supper, grieve through the trial and sentencing, and mourn at the foot of the cross. Then, on Sunday morning we gather and can experience that same joy and celebration that the women felt when they found the empty tomb on Easter Sunday morning. I hope that you will join me as we journey with Jesus.
We are Easter people. We have much to celebrate!
Thanks be to God! Alleluia, Christ has risen!
In Christ’s Love & Service,
Pastor Lisa
